In this increasingly complex and changing world the role of education has never been more important.

As educators we seek to prepare our students for their future. Our aim at the Southern Health School is that our students are engaged (in life and learning), connected (to others and through technology) and resilient; ready to face whatever the future may hold. What that future may look like is difficult to predict. The futurist Alvin Toffler in his book published in 1970 wrote “The illiterate of the 21st Century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn”. The skills required are reflected in the diagram below.

As a staff we are looking to enable our students to be prepared for this environment by developing ways of teaching and learning that embed the key skills and dispositions across the curriculum.
We look forward to developing this work throughout 2017 as we welcome our new and returning students to the Southern Health School.
